Snowpiercer apparently received critical acclaim when it came out. And I can understand that. It’s got some big names attached to it. Chris Evans is Captain America. And this is like, early in the Marvel phase. We’re just getting started with it. Tilda Swinton is a pretty recognizable face in Hollywood. As are John Hurt and Ed Harris. Ewen Bremner was actually Mullet in Snatch, which I just reviewed recently. Just a nice little tidbit of information there for you…

As for the movie itself, I’m kind of torn. I can see what they were trying to do. Make the whole class metaphor. Which, I’m totally in agreement with. I agree with the class struggle metaphor completely. I just don’t think it was done as well as it could have been. There were parts that seemed to just come out of nowhere. And at the same time, there were parts that just seemed to end abruptly, with no sense of context or anything else.

And, as much as I like Chris Evans, his acting in this movie is a lot less remarkable than it is in Captain America and The Avengers movies. Maybe it’s just me. Maybe it’s the character. Maybe it’s the script. Who really knows. What I do know is, with the amount of times that people get shot and stabbed in this movie, they all sure seem to take it pretty well.

But it’s not just about getting shot and stabbed. They’ve got a job to do. They have to get to the front of the train. And come hell or high water, they’re going to get there. And you have to admire that about these people. And I think Chris Evans was a good choice for that part. Because he WAS Captain America. He’s got that “follow me” attribute about him. He didn’t do as well in this movie as he did in the other ones. But they can’t all be winners now, can they.

So, yeah. Go and see Snowpiercer. It’s not a terrible movie. I didn’t hate it. I probably wouldn’t pick it up and watch it if I were bored sometime. I’ll more than likely never watch it again. But I can see how critics gave it a good review. And I’m not disagreeing with them. And as always, keep on watching, with a smile on your face…
