I’ve always liked Lucky Number Slevin. I think it tries a little too hard to be mysterious and pull the fast one on you. I understand that’s the entire point of the movie and everything. But it’s the same thing with Inception. There’s “complicated”, and then there’s “convoluted”. They’re not both good when it comes to storytelling. I think this ventured into the “convoluted” side of things when it started getting into the middle of the movie.

The dialogue’s good, though. It’s got a good script. There’s some real witty back and forth going on between characters throughout the whole thing. You can appreciate that. And Josh Hartnett is really good in this movie. Back in his heyday, I suppose. But he has a real presence on the screen throughout the entire film, which is good for him.

Bruce Willis plays a cold-blooded assassin with no emotion, who’s all business. So, he’s well equipped for this role. And Morgan Freeman and Ben Kingsley are the opposing two mob bosses that are mistaking Slevin for his friend Nick Fisher. It’s a fun movie when you sit down and watch it.

It all gets brought together in the end, though. No matter how roundabout they have to go to finally get to it. You might miss a few things because they aren’t exactly front and center. Or maybe it’s just me, because I’m not the most observant guy in the world. You never really can tell with these sorts of things.

So, yeah. Go and see Lucky Number Slevin. It’s a good time chock full of horseraces, mob bosses, and gunfights. Well, maybe not chocked full. But, they’re in there. And what else can you ask for, right? And as always, keep on watching, with a smile on your face…
