The Fifth Element is one of those movies where you either really like it, or you just flat out hate it. I happen to love The Fifth Element. It’s one of my favorite sci-fi movies. And there’s so much going on in this movie that makes it fun to watch. The design of the sets, and the characters, and the originality of the whole thing is just visually appealing from a fan’s point of view. It’s an interesting movie to watch, along with the plot and the dialog itself.
And the acting is a great point in this movie. Gary Oldman is one of the great actors in history. He can do anything. He has such range. And he just knocks it out of the park in everything that he does. It’s really just impressive to watch him do it. And I thought it would never happen. I swore I would never do it. But I liked Chris Tucker in this movie. There, I said it… In this futuristic, sci-fi, French action film, Chris Tucker’s character actually fit in perfectly. The movie wouldn’t have been the same without him.
As for Bruce Willis, I do think Bruce Willis has been one of the best action stars in movie history. How many movies has Bruce been in that we all know and love? Die Hard is a Christmas staple. Pulp Fiction is an American icon. And let’s not forget Look Who’s Talking… Well, maybe we can forget Look Who’s Talking… But he brings out his classic action hero in this role as Korben Dallas. From the beginning of the movie when he’s a run down guy who’s down on his luck to the very end when he’s saving the world, it’s the same old Bruce that we’ve seen do it so many times.
But despite using actors that know what they’re doing, the writer and director Luc Besson, was very original and deliberate with his script. The styles of the aliens and the clothing that the characters throughout the movie wear are very different from most other movies, not just in regular movies, but even in the science fiction genre. It creates its own sort of memorable experience while you’re watching it because you’ve never seen any other kind of clothing or alien like that before. And you just think to yourself “what was that from? Oh yeah, The Fifth Element…”
So, yeah. Go and see The Fifth Element. Because I don’t know about you, but I like it when the Earth gets saved. Spoiler alert: the Earth DOESN’T get destroyed in the end. I know, I know. Ruined the whole thing, right? It’s alright, you probably would’ve figured it out anyway. But give it a look nonetheless. And as always, keep on watching, with a smile on your face…
