Deadpool 2 is a 2018 superhero movie that is the sequel to Deadpool in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It stars Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool, Morena Baccarin as his lover, Vanessa, and Josh Brolin as Cable. T.J. Miller, Leslie Uggams, and Brianna Hildebrand all also return from the first movie. And Zazie Beetz makes her entrance as Domino, a mutant who controls luck. A very convenient superpower to have when you really think about it, despite what Deadpool says about it not really being a superpower.
I think the second movie is even better than the first. The story has more going on. There are more characters. And better characters at that. The dialogue and interaction between everybody seems to flow a little easier in this movie than in the first one. Especially between Deadpool and all of the people in X-Force itself. It seems like they’re having more fun with the script.
There were a bunch of different people considered for the different roles before they were actually cast. Brad Pitt was at the top of the list for Cable before he ended up doing something else and passing on the movie because of a scheduling conflict. There were several other people in front of Josh Brolin before he eventually ended up getting the part. The same with Zazie Beetz. She wasn’t the even close to the top of the list of people who were considered for the part of Domino. But by the time they started shooting, they ended up with her.
The movie itself did even better than the first movie did. Outselling Star Wars: Episode 3 in some places on its first day. That’s an impressive feather to put in your hat. To say that you sold more tickets than Star Wars? There’s not a whole lot of movies that can say that. Especially Episode 3, which I think is one of the best movies in the entire franchise.
So, yeah. Go and see Deadpool 2. It’s got everything you want in a movie. Fight scenes, cursing, decapitation, people getting ripped in half. Good clean family fun. And as always, keep on watching, with a smile on your face…
