Shaun of the Dead

Shaun of the Dead Movie Poster

Shaun of the Dead is a zombie apocalypse comedy written by Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright and directed by Edgar Wright. It is the first part of what is known as “The Three Flavours Cornetto Trilogy” of movies from Pegg and Wright, which consists of Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, and The World’s End. Simon Pegg and Nick Frost are the main characters in all of the movies just as they are in this one.

If there was one comedy that I recommended that everybody sees at least once, it would be Shaun of the Dead. It’s too funny to have never seen it before. The dialogue is so well written that it all fits together like these sharp little puzzle pieces. The sentences finish each other, and you have to pay attention to get it. There’s all these easter eggs in the movie that you don’t notice unless you watch it as many times as I have that make it even more enjoyable, just because you know that they’re there.

But the dialogue isn’t the best part. The plot itself is great. It’s a great story in and of itself. It’s an all-around good movie. It’s put together well. The scenes flow into each other with a crispness that you don’t really get in most movies. And from start to finish, you’re enthralled by how entertaining a zombie apocalypse can really be. Because let’s face it, the end of the world doesn’t have to be a real downer, does it? We can try to have at least a little fun with it…

And the many quotable lines in this movie make it rewatchable over and over again. The interactions between Shaun and Ed are priceless. Simon Pegg and Nick Frost are a real comedy duo that has come into their own in their movies over the years with their follow-up movies in “The Three Flavours Cornetto Trilogy”. They started working together back on the show “Spaced”, which Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright also wrote and directed. And their friendship and compatibility really shows through on camera.

Not only should you see Shaun of the Dead, but you should see the other two movies in the trilogy also, because they’re hilarious as well. Not as funny as Shaun of the Dead is. But funny in their own right. I can’t say enough about Shaun of the Dead because it is literally my second favorite movie of all time. So, yeah, go and see Shaun of the Dead. Hopefully, you’ll love it as much as I do. And as always, keep on watching, with a smile on your face…
